Strategy and tips
Four steps from your first game of Yin-Yang to expert play.
- First game
Three cells of one colour in a 2×2 square force the fourth to be the other colour, because four of one colour is forbidden.
- Getting better
An open cell that is the only link between two pieces of one colour must take that colour, or the pieces split apart.
- Confident
Before you paint a cell, check that the other colour still forms one piece, and that no 2×2 square turns solid.
- Expert
Work outward from the dotted cells. Each placed colour narrows the choices for the cells around it.
Common mistake Painting a cell only because it looks like a gap. A wrong move is not applied and counts as a mistake; five end the attempt.
