How to play
- Sail the course in order and pass each buoy on the side the dashed line shows.
- You cannot sail straight into the wind: zigzag upwind and tack at the right moment. Running downwind in waves, press Surf as the glowing band reaches the boat.
- Finish for one star, finish first for two, finish first within the par time for three.
Controls
Keyboard: left and right arrow keys (or A and D) steer, Space or Enter tacks, the up arrow or W surfs, the down arrow or S eases the sail, P or Esc pauses. Touch: hold the lower left or lower right of the screen to steer and use the Tack and Surf buttons. Gamepad: left stick steers, the bottom button tacks, the left button or right bumper surfs, the left trigger eases, Start pauses. TV remote: left and right steer, OK tacks, Up surfs, Down eases, Back pauses. The game needs sight and is not playable with a screen reader; menus and results can be read.
About this game
A sailing race game seen from above. You steer a small keelboat round a course of buoys against one to three rivals that sail by exactly the same rules as you. The wind decides everything: the boat cannot sail straight into it, so you zigzag upwind and choose the moment to tack; gusts and lulls drift across the water; on the downwind legs of wavy races you press Surf as the glowing band reaches the boat. The first region has six races, with three stars each: finish, finish first, and finish first within the par time. The wind and the rivals are the same on every attempt of a race, so a better result always comes from better sailing. The game keeps your stars, best times and a ghost of your best run on this device.
