Strategy and tips
Four steps from your first game of Slitherlink to expert play.
- First game
Start at the corners of the grid: a 0 rules out all four sides, and a 3 in a corner leaves only one open edge.
- Getting better
Where a 0 and a 3 share a side, that side stays empty, so the 3 must take its other three sides.
- Confident
Every dot on the loop has exactly two lines. When a dot already has two, the other edges of that dot stay empty.
- Expert
Count each clue against its cell. If the lines already drawn equal the clue, the other sides stay empty; if drawn lines plus open sides equal it, every open side must be drawn.
Common mistake Drawing an edge because a number seems to want it. Such a line is an error, not a hint.
