Strategy and tips
Four steps from your first game of Masyu to expert play.
- First game
A black pearl must turn: the loop goes straight through the points on both sides of it.
- Getting better
A white pearl goes straight. Next to it, the loop must turn at one of its neighbouring points.
- Confident
A pearl on the edge of the board limits the loop: a black pearl there cannot turn toward the outside.
- Expert
Every point has either no line or exactly two. When a point already has two, its other edges stay empty.
Common mistake Drawing an edge because a pearl seems to want it. A wrong line is not drawn and counts as a mistake; five end the attempt.
