Strategy and tips
Four steps from your first game of Magnetic Poles to expert play.
- First game
A quota that is already full forces the rest: once a row has all its plus poles, every other domino there must be neutral or minus.
- Getting better
Two cells that touch cannot both be plus, or both minus. Use this to rule out the second choice of a neighbouring domino.
- Confident
Count the rows and columns that still need poles. A domino that is the last chance for a needed plus is usually the answer.
- Expert
Neutral dominoes take no part in any count. Marking a domino neutral is a real deduction, not a guess.
Common mistake Placing a like pole beside another because the count seems to want it. Like poles never share an edge, and the board will flag both dominoes.
