How to play

  1. Walk, jump and hold the firework button to aim; let go to throw.
  2. Shove rivals, or grab and throw them, near the edge. Every hit raises their shake, and the higher it is, the farther they fly.
  3. Pick a mode in the lobby. In Island Brawl the last player or team standing wins the round, and whoever wins most rounds wins the match.
  4. To play alone, open the Festival Notebook. A mission opens when the one before it has its first star, and any mission can be played again for the other stars.

Controls

Gamepad: left stick to move, A jump, B shove, X firework, Y grab or throw. Keyboard 1: WASD, Space, Q, E, R. Keyboard 2: IJKL, N, U, O, P. Touch: a stick on the left half and four buttons. Start or Esc pauses. Under Settings, Keys changes the movement and action keys of both keyboards. The game needs sight and is not playable with a screen reader.

About this game

A local party brawler for one to eight players on one screen. Every player is a Paytak, a small character with a hat of its own. Throw one of seven kinds of fireworks, shove rivals or grab and throw them, and send them off the edge. A player who falls loses a life and floats down on an umbrella; a player with no lives left is out. Six modes: Island Brawl (the last one standing wins, on eight islands: the Square, the Seesaw, Rafts, the Glacier, Windy Hill, Crumbling Stones, the Wheel and the Mushroom Garden, or on a different one every round), Lantern Hill, Lantern Raid, Firework Ball on a festival pitch, Firework Rain and Festival Guards, a co-op for one to four players who keep a lantern from mischievous cloud creatures for ten waves. Gift boxes float down on balloons with more fireworks and power-ups such as a balloon shield, iron boots and a spring glove. Play everyone against everyone or in two teams, Day and Night, and set the island, lives, rounds and how often boxes drop in the lobby. Bots fill empty slots at three difficulty levels, Easy, Medium and Hard, so one player can start a match alone from the menu with a single press. The Festival Notebook is a solo campaign of 24 missions on the eight islands, from lantern drills to a match on the pitch, each with three stars; your total of stars is your record. The keys of both keyboards can be changed, and two original music tracks play with their own volume.
